Technology company Google plans to expand its cloud and data centre infrastructure in Finland. The company announced the acquisition of land in Kajaani and Muhos for future expansion of its cloud and data center infrastructure in Finland. Invest in Finland team has been supporting Google in its plans.

Earlier this year in May, Google announced an investment of €1 billion to expand its data centre in Hamina, bringing Google’s total investment in Finland to more than €4,5 billion, and adding an additional 100 jobs for the new data center building currently under construction. The campus in Hamina employs approximately 400 people full-time at present, in Google employee and contractor roles - from computer technicians to electrical and mechanical engineers, to security, catering and facilities management.

Even before a final investment decision is made for the development of the sites in Kajaani and Muhos, we are working in close consultation with local and national stakeholders on a plan that supports the long-term health of the community’s economy and natural resources. This is the first step in a long process," adds Antti Järvinen, Country Director Google Finland.
